September 2018 Youth Artist of the Month: Lauren Luk
"My name is Lauren Luk, and I am a senior at Mt. Hope High School. In these works I’ve focused on portraiture, for its simplicity and ability to capture the beauty within every person. We live in a society where many people, no matter the age, are exposed to the influence of social media, and a standard of unrealistic beauty is being set. I have encountered those who constantly say that they aren't beautiful, and have heard people make negative comments about another's appearance. However, I truly believe (as sappy as it sounds) that everyone is beautiful in their own way. With my photographs I strive to show the beauty that I will always see in people, both to the subject and the viewer."
