GROUNDBREAKING ROCK POSTER EXHIBIT TO "DRAW THEM IN"

We are pleased to announce the closing reception showcasing artwork of Dan Blakeslee titled:  "DRAW THEM IN."  This Rock Poster Retrospective showcases 13 pieces spanning two decades of work and will take place on Thursday May 25, 2017 at 5pm at The Collaborative, 498 Main Street Warren, RI. 

Blakeslee's rock posters have been hanging on record store windows, telephone poles and cafe walls across the country for 23 years.  Various Blakeslee posters are featured in Grushkin & King's "Art Of Modern Rock" published by Chronicle Books in 2004.  He is also the artist behind "Heady Topper" and "Focal Banger" beer labels for The Alchemist Brewing Company.  He is both an artist and musician and a recent resident of Providence, RI.

Following the reception will be a musical concert from Blakeslee and Jenee Halstead at 7pm.  Blakeslee has been making music throughout New England and touring the U.S. performing for over a decade.  In 2015 he played the Newport Folk Festival.  Joining Blakslee is singer-songwriter Jenee Halstead, winner of the Emerging Artist award at the 2009 Falcon Ridge Folk Festival.  The concert is presented on behalf of Warren native Shanley Zeilstra as part of a sponsorship program the Collaborative runs.  “These sponsorships are a way people can make a donation to the Collaborative to help pay the musicians at our concerts,” says Executive Director Uriah Donnelly.  “This month was purchased by Shanley’s parents for her birthday.”

The reception and concert are free and open to the public. Donations are always welcome and encouraged.
