Grigor Saribekyan’s love of friendship is apparent in his artwork, which often features his staff and friends. He enjoys taking photos with people and then meticulously recreates the scene, giving it his own artistic spin. A diligent artist and enthusiastic socialite, he always has a long waiting list of who he’ll draw next. With each new friend he makes, the list grows longer. In his own words, “It’s my picture. I draw flowers, I draw butterflies. I draw Shay and small Sarah—is very small baby. Colleen’s picture is very long paper. I tell her, ‘I’m not finished Colleen, it’s very surprise.’ First pencil. Pencil all done pencil delete. Sharpie marker and watercolor. I’m draw Alexa. I’m draw Dawn Cat. I’m draw Kyla. I’m draw Chris. I’m draw Ayesha too…” His list of fortunate friends, of course, continues.

Grigor is an artist with Resources for Human Development-RI (RHD).  Since 2004, RHD has helped adults with developmental disabilities reach their goals. With a strong focus on the arts, RHD works with our Participants to develop new skills, become more integrated in the local community, and explore a variety of employment opportunities.

We believe that art allows people the opportunity to be productive in a truly distinct and meaningful way. We believe the people we support possess their own unique artistic vision, and our daily purpose is to help find the means to turn that vision into reality and, ultimately, share it with the world. Our frequent art and music shows are joyous affairs that showcase the talents of our Participants, help them earn money, and raise awareness of the richness of the lives and talents of people with disabilities.
