Hello Folks,

Spring is just around the corner and so are a bunch of awesome, artistic happenings at The Collaborative!

Coming up, we've got a Feature Artist opening, Youth Artist opening, and THREE new workshops! Read on to learn more and save the date for 401 Gives: April 1st, 2025. We truly cannot do what we do without your support.

Here's what we've got going on at The Collaborative Lab...

We're starting off the month with the opening for Feature Artist David Poyant on Thursday, March 6th from 6-8pm! You won't want to miss the opportunity to see David's thread-painted embroidered photographs nor learn about his incredible process. The awesome artwork of 5 Artist Collaborators is on view too!

Next up, a new Color Block Landscape Embroidery Workshop is on Sunday, March 16th from 12-3pm! In this class you will explore the use of thread to create a color-block landscape. You will learn 3 different stitches to construct your masterpiece in a 4 inch hoop. It will be helpful to have some basic sewing skills such as threading a needle and knotting thread, but you do not need to know any specific stitches – beginners welcome!

On Saturday, March 22nd, 6:30-8:30pm, come unwind with a night of painting! Join artist and educator Faye Silvia for a Paint Party and be guided step-by-step through painting a beautiful landscape using acrylic paint. Have fun with friends and other creatives and enjoy the provided snacks & beverages. All skill levels welcome!

And here is what's going on at the gallery...

On Thursday, March 13th from 6-8pm, join us for the opening of Youth Artist of the Month Zoe Suter! Check out the captivating paintings of this talented young artist along with artwork from 12 Artist Collaborators!

Last, but certainly not least, on Sunday, March 23rd from 11am-4pm, we are collaborating offsite with Artist Deb Talbot at Church Street Press, 13 Church Street, Warren for a Pronto Plates Workshop

In this session, students will learn the process of using pronto plates to create prints. Pronto plates are used in place of heavy lithographic stones. Using gum arabic, a sponge, and water, you seal the plate that you have drawn on with sharpie markers and Bic ballpoint pens. Using a brayer, you roll oil based ink on the plate, wipe off the excess ink, and using the barren or a press, transfer the image onto your paper.

Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced artist, this class offers an introduction into the many different aspects of printmaking!

Cheers,

The Collaborative
