I am a painter inspired by the intricacies of the human mind and inner thought. I use realism and abstract elements in my artwork, creating visually and emotionally enticing pieces.
Most people would glance at a blank canvas and see a stark, empty, white space- simply put, boring and maybe even daunting. However, upon looking at a blank canvas, I see opportunity. An opportunity to grace the untouched surface with an array of bright and vivid colors. An opportunity to experiment with new techniques, concepts, and mediums. Most importantly, I see an opportunity to create something that evokes a sense of passion and emotion not just in myself but also within the observer. This, to me, is the most valuable facet of painting- the ability to expel feelings and sentiments from a completely visual aspect.
I primarily enjoy oil paint as my medium. The thick and opaque texture, which can easily be altered with oil mediums, allows me to pursue various directions within my art. Layering thicker paint provides for a more textured and interesting piece- useful for more abstract and interpretive works. Thinning out the paint with oil-based mediums gives me a smooth and silky consistency I look to use for realism and portraiture. I can manipulate the thinner paints easily, which is very useful for small and intricate details.
In my pieces, I focus on occurrences within the human mind- whether I’m exploring self-conflicting thoughts or touching on nostalgia and memories, the human mind holds immense power and ability- one I find incredibly intriguing. It also derives genuine emotions, as the mind is fragile and capable of intense feelings.
My goal as I continue to pursue my passion is to create art for the rest of my life, regardless of whether it’s as a side hobby or a full-time job. My life would not be complete without the ability to express myself in this creative outlet. I hope to create pieces of art others can enjoy, finding something new to observe with each viewing. I also aspire to create commissions for others, allowing them to connect emotionally and personally with art in a way they may not have ever before.
