Ariel Bordeaux is a cartoonist, painter and writer. She is the creator of the 1990s self-published minicomic series Deep Girl, the graphic novella No Love Lost, and co-author of the comic book series Raisin Pie, with Rick Altergott. She currently works at the RISD Library, where she curates the zine collection. Ariel lives in Pawtucket with husband, Rick Altergott and their son, Eddie. Rick Altergott is a cartoonist/ Illustrator/ Painter best known as the creator of the fictional comic character, “Doofus", who lives in “Flowertown, U.S.A." with his best friend, "Henry Hotchkiss". He has almost completed a long awaited Graphic Novel featuring these characters to be published by Fantagraphics Books.
The stand alone images featured in the December Collaborative show are representative of his tastes in popular culture and are drawn using traditional pen and ink rendering techniques, influenced by many of his favorite comic book artists.
