Collagraph is a print medium that combines collage with both relief and intaglio printing. It’s simple, direct and lots of fun! Using a variety of materials, recycled and found objects, glue, acrylic medium and etching tools, you will explore additive and subtractive plate making techniques and textures to create innovative compositions.
During the workshop participants will create a collagraph plate, learn how to ink the plates and print on different papers. Participants will learn the different inking options that can change the look of your print entirely, and the use of dry vs dampened paper. Multiple plate registration will also be addressed.
MATERIALS PROVIDED include inks, rags, solvents, newsprint, tools, and use of the press. It also includes enough printing paper for you to go away with 3 prints and 2 plates. More prints can be available for a nominal fee for the paper.
This class is for people 18 years and older. Safety waivers are required and will be provided.
