If you ever wanted to try oil painting this course is for you. This workshop is an introduction to oil painting for beginners.

In this Alla Prima Floral Painting Workshop, students will learn how to capture the beauty of a floral arrangement using the direct method of painting called alla prima. In addition students will learn and practice mixing colors using a limited palette comprised of primary colors and a few extra special colors.

Students will learn and practice the underpainting method as part of the value study.

Students will complete a study each week, working from a still life set up or a photo. The still life set up will allow students to learn and apply the concepts of value, color matching and saturation of color.

Students will explore techniques for rendering different surfaces, such as ceramics, glass, metals and organic materials.
