“Bubblegum Bros. Circus”
Adèle Saint-Pierre is a Franco-American artist working in watercolor and colored pencil in a style characterized by an economy of lines and naïve shading. Her art has been featured in a variety of literary journals, and her exhibitions include a solo show at the Shen Gallery in Brooklyn and shared exhibits at AS220 and The Gallery at City Hall in Providence, and the Rockwell Gallery in New York City. She is a signature member of the National Association of Women Artists. A career educator, she calls both Providence and Québec City her home.
My art is inspired by the life I see in things like stains and cracks on sidewalks. I work primarily in watercolor, and my process is not defined by preconceived ideas on my part, but rather one in which I listen to the stains and the cracks that call out to me. The eight pieces which make up Bubblegum Bros. Circus are inspired by the splatterings of tar or patches of bubblegum which make up the fabric of Québec City sidewalks.
