Adrienne Wooster - October 2024

Wow, it’s been over two years since I first joined The Collaborative and I am psyched to be having my third feature show as an Artist Collaborator!

Since 2022, I have focused on creating an original and eclectic body of multimedia work. When it comes to art (and life) I am both a minimalist and a collector — collage works well for this dichotomy. I like watching and listening to life, noticing the dark and light corners of each place or person, and piecing things together to make a whole or part of a whole. A while back, I saw a brief interview with an older man, who, when asked what the purpose of life is, remarked that it is to better answer the question, “who am I?” In this way, each quirky, conceptual, or emotive figure I make is part of my answer.

For this year’s feature show, I wanted to exhibit a number of visual free-verses — collage “sketches” made during my gallery sitting shifts. It is my hope that an honesty has emerged from these more spontaneous musings. The two larger works are a weightyer version of these ideas. I enjoy the challenge of combining found objects and images with my own photography.

Each solitary figure is in conversation with the others. They are my observations, daydreams, ruminations, and afterthoughts.
