Kaitie Devlin (she/her) is an emerging artist originally from Southern Illinois, now residing in Providence, RI for nearly a decade. She studied Broadcast Journalism in her early 20s and after volunteer work exchange at a hostel on Smith Hill. She left in 2017 to Texas and Tennessee facing flows of challenges alongside rediscovering her passion for painting. She came back to Providence in 2018 and has been continuously pushing to grow in her skills as an artist. Her influences from the past are part of what she incorporates in small ways into her pieces. Specifically, Lee Krasner, Jackson Pollock, Helen Frankenthaler, and Joan Mitchell to name a few. Devlin's work explores the emotional highs and lows of modern life, using layered textures and chaotic splatters to convey themes of disruption, frustration, transformation and positivity.
My artwork centers on abstract expressions that capture the dynamic interplay between resilience and hope. Through bold colors, intricate forms, and layered textures, I explore the continuous journey of seeking positivity in the face of life’s challenges. Each piece is a reflection of the determination to persevere, allowing the viewer to find their own narrative within the complexities of the abstract.
