Bliss Matthews
6pm-8pm at 498 Main St., Warren RI
We’ll have light refreshments and nibbles!
Aloha, beautiful soul!
My name is Bliss and I am so grateful to have the opportunity to share some of my art with you. Through art, whether it be painting, drawing, sculpting, writing or music, I experience a lightness of being and sense of empowerment that I hope to share with all who are open. Creating has always been a source of comfort, while at the same time challenging me to expand and embrace the change that is ever present. It is incredibly exciting to pursue art! I am releasing my first music album this summer and will continue to create in all ways. From my heart to yours,
“You are an artist of the spirit.
Find yourself and express yourself in your own particular way.
Express your love openly.
Life is nothing but a dream and if you create your life with love, your dream becomes a masterpiece of art”

Youth Artist Opening - Leila Toubia
We’re starting our 2023 season with a BANG!
Meet talented Youth Artist, Leila Toubia. Thursday March 2nd from 6-8.
We’ll be serving light refreshments and nibbles.
Hello, my name is Leila Toubia and I am a senior at La Salle Academy. I have been creating art ever since I could remember, but I have been serious about art since middle school. I enjoy exploring different mediums while expressing my personality and emotions through my work. Over the past year, I have been working hard to improve my 2D art, as well as learning to experiment with different 3D materials and “found objects.” This process has really pushed me out of my comfort zone and has strengthened my skills. Next year I will be attending art school!

We’re ending out 2022 season with a BANG!
Meet talented Youth Artist, Anna Pan. Thursday Dec. 15th from 6-8.
We’ll be serving light refreshments and nibbles.
Hello, I am Anna Pan and I’m an 11th grade student from Lasalle Academy! I’ve been an artist for about 6 years now and I love to work with all mediums. Recently, I’ve been trying to explore out of my comfort zones, and what I want my paintings to do is to give a sense of relaxation, sophistication, realism, and strong emotions. I really want the audience to know about me and what I do. I will continuously work harder so my creativity will show more. This display is really about my personal art growth through the years. I really hope to achieve something greater with my art in the future.

The majority of these pieces were a complete experiment and an exploration of what people might look like if my imagination had full reign over reality.
Collage is a new medium for me, as is living near Providence. I am an alumni of Roger Williams University and moved back to Rhode Island from Upstate, NY last year. Since then, the dissonance of new and old, light and dark within the city has significantly shaped my work.
I created the majority of these “butterfly people” in the pandemic isolation of winter for the same reason many people create art, I suppose, – as a form of catharsis and sense-making. Each person or being is a part of my internal world – a reflection of the external – passer-bys on the street, people spotted through bar windows, socialites at events... Making some of these quirky creatures was and is a way for me to express certain emotions or emotive concepts – attachment, memory, bravery, regret, hope – and some were made just because I wanted them to be.
My photographic work, like my collages, is also an emotive expression, and does often have a dark-edge – though I find light to be just as captivating, since both need one another to exist.
I am grateful to The Collaborative for displaying my work, especially these slightly off-kilter creatures during the Halloween season, and I hope that they are as thought-provoking as they are bizarre.
